WILLIAM "BILLY" CALVE
Billy Calve is a trial attorney and former federal prosecutor dedicated to providing top-tier advocacy for clients in complex criminal and civil matters. His practice focuses on white collar defense, government investigations, and commercial litigation.
Billy served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas in San Antonio from 2019 to 2026. In that role he investigated and prosecuted federal offenses involving white collar crime, organized crime, computer-facilitated crime, and violent crime. Billy represented the United States at hundreds of hearings, tried a wide range of cases to juries, and argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He managed a caseload that included wire, mail, and tax fraud, money laundering, illegal exports, identity theft, Hobbs Act violations, bank robbery, narcotics and weapons trafficking, firearm offenses, and other federal crimes.
Billy worked alongside various federal agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Office of Export Enforcement, the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Billy practiced commercial litigation at a global law firm in San Antonio. He also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Ignacio Torteya, III, of the Southern District of Texas.
Billy graduated summa cum laude from St. Mary’s University School of Law. As a law student, he secured three national championships in moot court and served on the editorial board of the St. Mary’s Law Journal. Billy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and History from the University of Texas at Austin.
Actively involved in the San Antonio legal community, Billy is President-Elect of the Federal Bar Association - San Antonio Chapter, a member of the San Antonio Bar Association Federal Courts Committee and William S. Sessions American Inn of Court, and an adjunct instructor for the St. Mary’s Law Advocacy Program.
